Fair View United Methodist Church Scholarship

History:   
The Fair View United Methodist Church Scholarship was established under the will of Elizabeth D. Knox (1912-2008), a longstanding member of Fair View United Methodist Church. 

About Elizabeth D. Knox:
Growing up in nearby Cornelius, Mrs. Knox joined Mt. Zion United Methodist Church at the age of 12. After her marriage to Herbert Knox, she joined Fairview United Methodist Church.   During her adult life, she was employed by McCall Chair Company.  She was active in community and church Affairs and was a member of the Pink Ladies, The Women's Auxiliary of Huntersville Hospital and a member of the Interdenominational Senior Citizens Committee in Cornelius. 
She has served on the Official Board of Mt. Zion Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for twenty years or more.  She was a long time member of Wesleyan Service Guild, she held officer of President, Vice President and Treasure.    
Purpose:
The purpose of the Fair View United Methodist Church Scholarship is to provide scholarships for deserving college or university students pursuing a degree at any of the United Methodist affiliated colleges in the Western North Carolina Conference or to any college in the University of North Carolina system including students enrolled and/or attending a Community College that is part of the North Carolina Community College System. The deadline for applications is May 1, 2023.   All new applicants should complete an application linked below .  Additional details about the scholarship and eligibility requirements are also linked below.  

Those who have previously received the scholarship and would like to reapply should send a letter to the church stating your present status and future plans.  In addition, please provide a recent transcript if available and an estimate of your financial needs for the upcoming semester.  The letter can be mailed to the church and must be postmarked by May 1.  The letter may also be emailed to Jill Lowe at info@fairviewumc.org.  Any questions, please contact Jill by email or by phone at 704-664-2880.
