Kick Off
EXITING THE
BUILDING: The Board of Trustees reminds committee
chairpersons, ministry coordinators, and keyholders of the importance of
securing the facilities properly upon departure. If you are the last to leave daytimes or
evenings, confirm that no one is in the building by checking the parking lots
for cars. Then arm the alarm system and
insure that all exterior doors are closed and locked. An exit checklist is available in the folder
outside of Room 201.
EVER THOUGHT
ABOUT BECOMING A STEPHEN MINISTER? Fair View will be training another class of Stephen
Ministers on August 26. Stephen
Ministers work alongside our pastors to care, encourage, and provide emotional
and spiritual support to people who are going through a difficult time, such as
divorce, grief, hospitalization, unemployment, terminal illness, relocation,
chronic illness, or loneliness. If you
have gifts for caring, encouragement, and listening, please begin to
prayerfully consider whether you might want to be part of this exciting
ministry. If you think you might be interested, talk with one of our Stephen
Ministry Leaders: Sandy Cox, Glenda Dingler, Gwen Fenninger, or Laura Hamrick.
SUMMER INTERN: Rick and Suzanne Schilling will reside in the Ballard House during the month of July. The Lay Supervision Committee chaired by Glenda Dingler invites you to express your support for Rick and Suzanne by inviting them to supper or by making a financial gift through the church, designated “summer intern.” In this way, the church will pay for Rick’s mileage, meals, and incidental expenses. You may contact Rick at 704-604-1888 or rick.schilling@duke.edu.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL: Are your children signed up? Are you signed
up? We are seeking volunteers for set-up, clean-up, teaching, and
kick-off. July 13-17, 5:30 to 8:00 pm. Not available that week? See Kelly Johnson for a list of needed snack
donations. Contact Emily McLain at the
church office for more information about VBS!
FAIR VIEW ORNAMNENT: The United Methodist Women are selling Christmas ornaments. A Sample ornament is available for viewing in narthex with order form throughout July. $15 per ornament. Thank you for your support.
FOOD OF THE MONTH: During July, support Mooresville Christian Mission and Mooresville Soup Kitchen with your donation of canned peas. Place your donations in
the red wagon in the narthex or the collection bin in the hospitality area.
ARE YOU
WORKING? There's a lot of work to do
in God's kingdom. Caregiving is one of the most important jobs God calls us to
do--to love others in his name. Our congregation's Stephen Ministry is one way
we accomplish God's caring work. Perhaps God has blessed you richly and you're
at a place where you can give something back by serving and blessing others.
Roll up your sleeves and explore your role in Stephen Ministry by contacting
Laura Hamrick (704-807-6062) or Gwen Fenninger (704-664-5690) today. Be a
working Christian.
COMMUNITY PLAYGROUND UPDATE:
Thank you to all who are helping with the
Community Playground fundraising effort. Church and community
members have given $44,000! We are
still receiving gifts to cover site preparation, installation costs, fencing,
signage, and benches. The Board of Trustees of the Duke Endowment met
and approved a generous grant for our Community Playground Our next step will
be the construction phase. We still
need volunteers to offer some “sweat equity” during the installation of the
equipment.
