Music

Welcome to the Fair View UMC music page!
I’m Linda Gebelein, Director of Music since 2008. I began my church music career at the age of 4 when I sang my first solo. From there I branched out into choir member, pianist, organist and handbell ringer. I received a B.S. in Music Education from Towson University in Towson, Maryland. I also met my husband of 30 years there. Wayne is a very gifted classical guitarist and I love having him play at Fair View. We have three children: Michael, age 23 and a talented guitarist/bass player/lyricist, his wife Shana, age 23, who studied ballet for many years and is a very accomplished dancer, and Rachel, age 17, who possesses a lovely singing voice. You will usually see Rachel singing with the Chancel Choir during the Easter and Christmas seasons.
Music has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. Being able to share my talent with others through teaching, playing and directing is a true privilege. I feel blessed to be a person who loves her work. I hope you enjoy the music ministry at Fair View and that you’ll consider being a part of what we do here. I look forward to seeing you soon!
Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir is open to individuals ages 13 and up. You don’t need to audition to become a member and there is not a requirement that you read music. We rehearse each Wednesday in the sanctuary at 7:35 p.m. Rehearsals normally run for 90 minutes. We need singers in all voice parts. We perform a cantata on the Sunday before Christmas and on Palm Sunday. The Chancel Choir is in the choir loft for most of the year. Normally the choir takes a break during the month of July and there are Sundays off here and there throughout the year. Rehearsals are fun but are also hard work! The choir members who wish to do so often perform as soloists or in small groups throughout the year. We enjoy performing music by Tom Fettke, Mark Hayes and John Rutter. Please consider joining us for fun, fellowship and the joy of making music with other musicians!

Worship Band
The members of the Worship Band are a diverse group of talented local musicians with incredible stories to tell. From playing with Steppenwolf to gigging at some of the local haunts in the Carolinas, we’ve got you covered. Different journeys might have landed us at Fair View and the 9:00 RISE service, but we come with a love for God and our community. Our passion for worship fuels us, and we are committed to offering Fair View with exceptional worship experiences. We recognize that worship is much more than the music before the message; it is our entire life’s reflection of the character of God.
Come join us Sunday mornings at our 9:00 RISE service where we sometimes let loose and sometimes keep it chill. Whatever the tone, we always worship our Creator through the many creative talents God has given.
Experience…participate…RISE.

WOW Singers
The WOW (Wonders Of Worship) Singers meet each Wednesday in the sanctuary at 6:35 p.m. WOW includes children in pre-K through 5th grade. The WOW Singers learn basic music theory and songs. They meet from the beginning of September until Christmas program rehearsals begin and then resume in January and finish at the end of May. They perform at least every other month. WOW is fun and educational. Even the youngest children retain the concepts that they’ve learned and the love to sing for the congregation (and their music is very warmly received). If you have a child in pre-K or higher please bring him or her out for WOW on Wednesdays. Your child will have fun learning about music and praising God through song!
Handbell Choir
Fair View possesses a very nice set of handbells. Plans are underway to begin a handbell choir for ages 13 and up. Please check back later for more details!
