Cokesbury’s Beach Party VBS 2008 is a blast! Your kids will visit an exciting beach where they will learn the basics of surfing, ride the wave of God’s love, and go home with a new “Beach Be-Attitude.”

Be obedient, Be kind, Be forgiving, Be bold, and Believe are the essential “Beach Be-Attitudes” that, through Surfin’ Scripture teachings, will be the basis for our VBS beach outing.

in Memory of Betty Apgar

Playground Memorial Project Nears Reality for the Children of Fair View and Our Community

Family, friends, and colleagues of the late Betty Apgar wish to celebrate her life and cherish blessed memories of a beloved children’s advocate and educator by supporting the purchase and installation of a first-class children’s playground to be located at Fair View UMC.

Trustees David Caldwell and Elaine Willeford are leading a taskforce to bring this dream to reality. Financial support as well as "sweat equity" are needed to see this worthwhile preject to completion.

Fundraising continues as site preparation begins at the end of June, 2008. Installation of the equipment is scheduled to begin in August. Check back frequently - progress photos will be posted periodically.

Fair View Plans MAGI Ministry

MAGI (Members Applying Gifts Intentionally) is a ministry that is being tailored specifically for Fair View UMC.    This ministry was developed by Matthews UMC ten years ago.  MAGI involves church members discovering their spiritual gifts but then it takes that process even deeper.

Members who complete a MAGI class discover their spiritual gifts, their style of ministry and their passion within ministry.  At the end of the class members are then matched with the areas of ministry within their own church that fit their gifts, styles, passions and availability.  

This ministry has been highly successful not only at Matthews UMC but in other local Methodist Churches as well in bringing joy, purpose and commitment back to the church.

• Joy comes from people serving using the gifts God gave them.
• Purpose comes not only from the members having a greater purpose in their service but also in determining the purpose of the churches ministries.
• Commitment is what comes naturally when members are serving in areas not out of obligation but out of desire and passion.  Commitment comes when we allow our members to say no to a particular ministry without attaching guilt to their decision.

The MAGI Development Team is currently in the process of developing Fair View’s Ministry Database.   You can help with this information gathering by completing a downloadable position description form covering the ministries you support at Fair View.
